![]() | Stories From Lakeforest U by Alflor Aalto With the summer gone, high school already feels like a distant, hazy memory. Life's pace leaves little time to wax nostalgic and reminisce — there's far too much to look forward to. Together with his boyfriend, Arden arrives at Lakeforest University, ready for his freshman year. The young otter has heard a lot about college — the good and the bad — but there's even more in store than that. Old friends will be lost, new friends will be made. Fate will turn in ways beyond expectation. But one thing's for certain: For better and worse of it, the boys will have the time of their lives. | |||||||

Customer's Reviews for Stories From Lakeforest U by Alflor Aalto
First off, this book is a sequel to an earlier novel written by Alflor called "Stories from Elton High". I strongly urge you to read that book before tackling this one; not only because it is a great story, but because the book makes references to past events that happened in the first book. You can find it here.
In my opinion, this book is even better than the first. We get to see Arden, Mark, Sam and newcomer Tommy all come into their own as they move onto the next step in their lives: college. Witch college being the way it is, there will be parties, peer pressure, homework, and everything in between> It all makes for a very enjoyable reading experience.
Alflor's characters are incredibly well written. Each character is distinct and memorable, which is something that should be commended considering the sheer amount of characters there are. Likewise, Alflor's world-building skills are top notch. His descriptions make you want to learn more about the world these characters live in and make it easy to visualize what you are reading. There is never a dull moment in the book and this makes it hard to put the book down. You always want to read just one more page to find out what happens next!
In case I haven't made it clear already, this is a great book by a great author and is absolutely worth picking up. And if you haven't already, make sure to pick up the first book too!
I purchased this book as I also read and purchased Stories From Elton High (This novels prequel. This is a sequel if you haven't figured it out.)
I'm not one for spoilers so, I'll do my best to leave those out. If you're familiar with Alflor's writing style, there's up's and downs and twists and turns. A few of them unexpected. Most of the group from Elton makes a reappearance though the story focus on Arden, Mark, Sam, Danny and a new comer named Tommy. The Story still remains to be about Arden and Mark's relationship but with the ups and downs that are University life, though it all, stress, joy, and sadness. this is one book that you wouldn't want to end. I found the characters to be well developed and thought out. I started to feel like I was in their shoes, I even started thinking ahead to what they would do next. While rooting for one and at the same time booing another hoping they would soon face karma.
With this book I think that Alflor has improved his writing style and character development from the last Stories novel. I had actually felt that I was there with the characters. If I have to have a negative it might be on some of the stupidity of the
Coming from a first novel in the story of Arden and Mark during the end of their High School life, seeing them start a new chapter in college in a new book brought me a lot of happiness for them.
Alas, not everything can be a bed of roses -believe me, they do make it seem like that-, and you will see a few not-so-kind faces both new and old come and try to make their life hard and test the commitment and trust between the couple and their friends.
Here in Lakeforest you'll find how college life in campus is, whether you're still in High School, attending college or already past it, there will be new friends, flings, parties, booze, drugs, and of course experiences -both good and bad- that will make them always remember their college years.
All in all, I'll be reading this book again. The tear-jerking moments are so powerful that I wish more people could read them. And I really hope that Alflor can give us many more chapters in the life of the otter and wolf couple, if not just one more.
