Sarin Barneby and the King's Gambit by Alflor Aalto

Sarin Barneby and the King's Gambit by Alflor Aalto

Sarin Barneby and the King's Gambit by Alflor Aalto

Sarin Barneby is a fox of many talents. He has a brilliant deductive mind, a quick paw and charm enough for twenty. He uses these considerable gifts almost daily to further his wealth and social status. But sometimes it isn't all about the gold and shiny trinkets.

When a stranger comes into the city to try and show up our fox, Sarin takes him on and poses a bit of a challenge. First one to claim the legendary Crown Jewels wins — the prize is in the jewels, of course, and in the bragging rights.

Customer's Reviews for Sarin Barneby and the King's Gambit by Alflor Aalto

A Heist, A Fox and A Good Time
What attracted me to this book was purely the art and a review. Went to BLFC and the Rabbit Valley rep told me it was a good read. I was skeptical at first but after reading it was worth it every cent. The book hurls you into a life of Sarin Barnaby a fox with wits and charm. Alflor does an amazing job immersing into Sarin's world of crime and danger from the very beginning and keeps bringing you back with each chapter. Surprises await on every corner and this book is definitely one to add to any furrie's collection. The only complaint being.... WHERE IS THE SEQUEL.

An immensely entertaining caper that will leave you wanting more!
Alflor has managed to enrapture yet again with a meticulously written and masterfully paced heist novel set in Llyra, although taking place after the events of the Llyran Wars (Spies in Their Midst, Streets of His City, The Prince of Knaves). Alflor's talent for creating endearing characters and smooth, flowing prose is once again on full display here. Of particular note is Sarin Barneby himself. As charming as he is dangerous, he shows the reader that he can talk the talk AND walk the walk. Easily my favorite of Alflor's characters, he is not one that will be easily forgotten, and by the end of the novel, you will be wondering what awaits him on his next adventure!
The subtle nods and references to the author's earlier work will also be greatly appreciated by those who have read it.

If you like capers and heists or are just looking for a great read, get this book, and if you enjoy it definitely check out some of Alflor's earlier work as well!

A fast-paced heist novel that keeps you on your paws!
Alflor Aalto's first tale in the Sarin Barneby series is a wonderfully plotted heist novel set a few hundred years after the wars in Llyra, the medieval fantasy realm that Alflor deftly reveals to his readers in his eponymous other series. The novel is told largely from the perspective of Sarin Barneby himself, which means that the reader gets to feel very close to the action; there is definitely a lot of fantasy fulfillment to be had if that is your cup of tea. The setting is well researched, the plot fast-paced, and the action harrowing and exciting. A must read for fans of Alflor's other work or anyone who has enjoyed The Great Train Robbery or Sherlock Holmes. Of note, there aren't any erotic scenes in this one, but by no means overlook it on account of that!
