Customer's Reviews for The Streets of His City and Other Stories by Alflor Aalto
Alflor Aalto has consistently shown us that he knows how to create quality fiction that always leaves you wanting more. An immensely interesting world, unforgettable characters, and wonderful themes, this book was an absolute joy to read. It is worth pointing out that this is (chronologically) the second book in an as-of-now three book series that begins with Spies in Their Midst and ends with The Prince of Knaves. I highly suggest checking them out if you like this one!
The Streets of His City and Other Stories is quite the enjoyable read. Though the stories contained within are discrete from one another, they share some characters, plot elements, and most importantly, some very interesting thematic elements. Alflor Aalto plays effectively with persona and identity within each of the stories, thereby creating a darkly entertaining and resonant reading experience. I highly recommend the book to anyone who would enjoy a series of medieval tales that is at once gritty with realpolitik and charming in its emphasis on the power of love.
Nothing soothes my soul more than getting lost in a world found within a great work of literature. Once I got into the book, I could NOT put it down until I was down. The character development was simply amazing, the story line flowed perfectly from one scene to the next and the plot twists were enough to keep you reading and guessing to the very end. I HIGHLY recommend this book, and will be picking up his others very shortly!
Many plot twists and turns with several stories interwoven in a tapestry of wonder. The writing is excellent, the characters have feeling, and the settings are well described. True emotions are felt reading this book.
