Stories From Elton High is absolutely wonderful!
First off I'd like to say that with this being my first read by Alflor, he's a very talented writer! Stories From Elton High is a beautiful story about true love, not just young love but real true love. I found it especially enjoyable because it reminded me a lot of my own boyfriend and I~ Anyway haha the only thing I founded kinda weird was when the perspective shifted from 3rd to 1st person, but I quickly got used to it and actually came to like it, thinking it was a very unique way of doing things. In terms of rating, this gets a 10/10 from me, and I really mean that! Keep up the good work Alflor, I look forward to giving you more money in the future!

Great Book! 5/5!
Honestly this is one of the better books I've read. The characters were compelling and touching and played off of each other very well. I also liked how the story moved at a fairly quick speed but not once through the whole thing did I feel like something was left out. Already been added to my favorites list and I know I'll be reading it again soon!

Not Good
First of all, please please please read this on sofurry first, where it is apparently posted. I really wish I had. It should give you an idea of the writing style. I seem to be in the minority here, but I found it to be completely amateurish. The sentences are clumsy and almost all of the dialogue is awkward. I'm absolutely amazed this was actually published.

The story is even worse. It progresses in such a bizarre fashion, to the point where the two leads are meeting, hanging out, confessing love, then having a quickie in the bushes all within a few days and not a single meaningful conversation is had between the two in all of that time. Further into the novel the relationship doesn't feel authentic. The characters hide things from each other that just don't need to be kept secret.

Also, apparently Redwall is a thing in this universe. Really? Pretty sure that would be straight up racism/speciesism in that world.

The main character's coming out process was almost insulting. I realize the author is trying to be original (a coming out story where being gay isn't the hard part, it's staying in love!) But the rate at which the main character realizes his sexuality, then accepts it, is ludicrous. His family's acceptance is fine, but the whole thing felt incredibly rushed, which speaks to a greater problem in the book. The whole thing progresses unrealistically and with the terrible writing and dialogue on top of that, it became impossible for me to continue.

Honestly, I'm amazed this was published. I purchased this to support the furry writing community, but I don't feel like our standards have to be so low as to consider this a good book. I'm frankly baffled by all the good reviews this novel has received. There are many other deserving furry authors out there. Alflor, at least at this stage, is not one of them.

An absolutely wonderful and touching story!
Alflor really knows how to tug at your heartstrings! His characters are realistic and relatable and his storytelling is top notch. He has managed to craft a beautiful and romantic story while simultaneously tackling issues that are definitely relevant today. I don't want to spoil anything, so I will say this: read this book now!

Great Story 10/10
It isn't easy to write a review for such a great story as this without taking as many pages as the story itself. But, I'll do my best.

First things first, no story can be successful without a plot that captivates you. This story does just that! The gripping love story of Mark and Ardin is deep. As far as loves stories goes, it was one of the best and most emotional I have ever read. It's also a very realistic story. Sure, you can expect your kissing and hugging, but there are many more situations and scenarios that the two face that truly show how deep their love for each other is. I won't go into details because I don't want to spoil it for you, but you can bet that there are some moments that will make your jaw drop, as well as some moments that will have you angry, and some that will make you smile.

The second thing about this story is the connection you get to the characters. Alflor is able to build such a detailed image of his characters in such a short amount of time. He also makes each character relatable in their own way. By doing this, it kept me in a constant connection to the characters. When something bad happened I felt their pain, and when something sweet happened it would make me smile.

Lastly, I would like to discuss the pacing of the book. I first read this story as it was slowly posted to SoFurry, and let me tell you, it was Awefull! BUT!! I don't mean that in a bad way. What was horrible about it was that I never wanted to put it down! But instead of getting to read the whole thing in one sitting (which I would have done) I had to wait for the next part to come out. It killed me inside! I wanted to know what was going to happen next immediately, I didn't want to wait for it. But when you buy it here, you won't have to ^^

So, to sum it up, I highly recommend this book. It has a gripping plot, deep and relatable characters, and the pacing will have you finishing this in one sitting.

10/10 From me
Keep it up Alflor! <3

A must-read
This novel will most likely cause you sleepless nights... in a good way, though! It is certainly hard to put away once you started reading it.
The story of Arden's and Mark's rather unusual first encouter, it's ups and downs and obstacles to be mastered create a truly intensive reading experience. So even if you are not in highschool anymore, this novel will certainly bring back memories.

So, grab a smoothie (Laguna Blast of course!), get your copy and follow Arden and Mark's lead! You will not regret it!

A must-read furry high school coming out story
Stories from Elton High is a wonderful furry novel. But it isn't *just* a wonderful furry novel -- strip out all of the furry elements, and you still have a fine bildungsroman and truly touching coming out story. Indeed, the quality of the writing compares favorably with that of many of the best writers of gay young adult fiction today (think Jay Bell, David Levithan, and the like).

Fortunately, Alflor Aalto avoids a lot of the pitfalls of the genre with aplomb: The politics of the main characters' coming out is addressed but does not come across as heavy-handed, and the novel has some very streamy sexual encounters, but these are described in language that is heartfelt and sensual, but never prurient or completely pornographic. In writing a charmingly romantic novel that comes across as genuine and quite relatable, Aalto has taken his furry fiction in a great direction; this is magical realism done right. I can't wait to read more from Alflor!

Favorite Book Yet
Bought this as soon as I read the first three chapters on Alflor's FurAffinity. Needless to say, I was hooked instantly; The desire to read this book surpassing anything else. I got the book and read through it within the day, finding it hard to put down with cliffhanger after cliffhanger. It was amazingly well written, the character personalities are easy to relate to, and the plot progression is outstanding. My only regret with reading this is it will now be ridiculously hard to have a relationship, knowing it could never be as strong or emotional as the one between Arden and Mark. Their love is the more powerful than I could possibly imagine. It makes me so happy, but kills me a little knowing it's unlikely I will have anything close to what they have.

A dip into their lives
What? Another story about two teen falling in love?
Sounds like a déjà-vu?

That's true, the topic has been used a lot, but Alflor's pen is so light, his style so intimate, that you actually forget you're reading a book.

I have started by reading the three chapters on furaffinity ; they had a very good progression and it made me curious. Badly curious.

Once I got the full book to read, I admit I have been addicted to it, to the point I finished the second half of the book in one night. I've felt joy, fear and disappointment, and coming from the book, it's rather demonstrative of its quality.

I can only recommand this great book, it made me feel alive the whole time I spend with Mark and Arden. Thanks Alflor for such a good time. Worth every minute !

I read the first three chapters on FA and could not wait for my physical copy to arrive so I ended up buying the digital copy as well to put on my kindle.

Such a well written story its hard to believe you're not there in person. I ended up even sneaking reads during work.
