The Streets of His City and Other Stories by Alflor Aalto.

Illustrations by Fennec Yip (Mobianfox)

Visit the city of Llyra and the land of Aarya in this collection of short stories and novellas. They are tales of young heroes looking for happiness and meaning in their lives. Some cross paths, others pass each other by with hardly a nod.

Includes:
Streets of His City:
The northern province of Septimine is attacked, and no one but young Prince Natier survives. Frightened and alone, the young fox undertakes a perilous journey across the country and makes it home. In his eyes, there are none to blame but his father. King Rasdill the diplomat believed firmly that a simple peace envoy was all it would take to fix things. That decision cost the Queen her life and almost did likewise for the Prince.

Rasdill welcomes his son to the palace with open arms, but Natier keeps things purely cordial. But such fulsome formality doesn’t last, and the young fox soon finds himself feeling trapped within the walls of the palace and searching desperately for some outlet to vent his emotions. He finds just such a thing in a secret passage that leads directly from his bedroom to a pub outside the palace walls. At night, when no one can see him, the Prince steals away into the city of Llyra and begins his explorations. What he finds will change him and take him further down the path of discovering who he truly is and who he has become after his mother’s death.

Their Labors of Love:
When the love he thought would last forever runs its course, Sirius learns the meaning of heartbreak. But in his languish, the young raccoon makes a friend in a fellow palace servant named Kaarper. The rabbit is eager to help in any way he can, and soon hatches a plan for getting Sirius back together with the love of his life. Sirius follows blindly for the sheer hope and possibility of having Alir in his arms again. As the plan slowly comes to fruition, however, the young raccoon may realize that not all the choices he will make are as clear as his love had made them seem

The Looking War:
Years have passed since the spy and his hunter had fallen in love. With every new assignment, Orrin and Trivus play their game, each coming within just a hairsbreadth of success to keep the higherups happy. But soon a special mission comes, and neither of the two lovers is allowed to fail. Their game has just become a war.

Customer's Reviews for The Streets of His City and Other Stories by Alflor Aalto

Simply Beautiful
Nothing soothes my soul more than getting lost in a world found within a great work of literature. Once I got into the book, I could NOT put it down until I was down. The character development was simply amazing, the story line flowed perfectly from one scene to the next and the plot twists were enough to keep you reading and guessing to the very end. I HIGHLY recommend this book, and will be picking up his others very shortly!

GET THIS AMAZING BOOK NOW!
This is a must read for those who love to read and for those who love to write.

Alflor does a fantastic job developing his characters so that you really feel connected with them and can feel what they feel (a skill than many writers constantly struggle with).

Once I started reading it, I couldn't put it down and I finished this book faster than any other book I've read. Such an amazing read for readers of all levels of reading (as long as you're of age of course).

Stay tuned to this writer for when he wins an Ursa Major award :D

This is why I read books
Mr. Aalto thrills once again! This is the second book in the Llyran Wars series, and it is quite possibly even better than Alflor's previous novel, The Prince of Knaves. There are two novellas here and two short stories. In a somewhat symbolic turn, the short stories have only a faint connection while the novellas bear a connection that is quite a bit more intimate. They tell the story of Prince Natier's return to Llyra and his subsequent psychological breakdown. The first POV is Natier's own. The second comes from an unlikely source, one of the palace servants. Sirius has no plans of getting too close to the Prince, but he soon finds himself drawn into a blackmail plot on top of his own love troubles and attempts to reunite with his mate.

As usual, Alflor's prose flows like spring brook. I've seen few writers with such an ability to put words on a page. The plot is fantastic as well... or I should say plots. Everything intertwines together into a single story where there are no heroes or villains, just people trying to live their lives in the City of Llyra. I cannot recommend this book enough. Read it and enjoy an amazing furry author!
