![]() | The Streets of His City and Other Stories by Alflor Aalto. Illustrations by Fennec Yip (Mobianfox) Visit the city of Llyra and the land of Aarya in this collection of short stories and novellas. They are tales of young heroes looking for happiness and meaning in their lives. Some cross paths, others pass each other by with hardly a nod. Includes: Rasdill welcomes his son to the palace with open arms, but Natier keeps things purely cordial. But such fulsome formality doesn’t last, and the young fox soon finds himself feeling trapped within the walls of the palace and searching desperately for some outlet to vent his emotions. He finds just such a thing in a secret passage that leads directly from his bedroom to a pub outside the palace walls. At night, when no one can see him, the Prince steals away into the city of Llyra and begins his explorations. What he finds will change him and take him further down the path of discovering who he truly is and who he has become after his mother’s death. Customer's Reviews for The Streets of His City and Other Stories by Alflor Aalto
Nothing soothes my soul more than getting lost in a world found within a great work of literature. Once I got into the book, I could NOT put it down until I was down. The character development was simply amazing, the story line flowed perfectly from one scene to the next and the plot twists were enough to keep you reading and guessing to the very end. I HIGHLY recommend this book, and will be picking up his others very shortly!
Many plot twists and turns with several stories interwoven in a tapestry of wonder. The writing is excellent, the characters have feeling, and the settings are well described. True emotions are felt reading this book.
Looking forward to reading more books from this Otter, ahem author.
I'm an avid reader, and finished this book in less than six hours. I just couldn't put it down! Alflor Aalto is a fantastic writer, and this book is an excellent showcase of his talent. The plot is full of interesting twists and turns, and really keeps you on your toes! The details are rich and the cast is deeply developed. I applaud Alflor on a job very well done! Keep them coming!!!
This is a must read for those who love to read and for those who love to write.
Alflor does a fantastic job developing his characters so that you really feel connected with them and can feel what they feel (a skill than many writers constantly struggle with).
Once I started reading it, I couldn't put it down and I finished this book faster than any other book I've read. Such an amazing read for readers of all levels of reading (as long as you're of age of course).
Stay tuned to this writer for when he wins an Ursa Major award :D
Mr. Aalto thrills once again! This is the second book in the Llyran Wars series, and it is quite possibly even better than Alflor's previous novel, The Prince of Knaves. There are two novellas here and two short stories. In a somewhat symbolic turn, the short stories have only a faint connection while the novellas bear a connection that is quite a bit more intimate. They tell the story of Prince Natier's return to Llyra and his subsequent psychological breakdown. The first POV is Natier's own. The second comes from an unlikely source, one of the palace servants. Sirius has no plans of getting too close to the Prince, but he soon finds himself drawn into a blackmail plot on top of his own love troubles and attempts to reunite with his mate.
As usual, Alflor's prose flows like spring brook. I've seen few writers with such an ability to put words on a page. The plot is fantastic as well... or I should say plots. Everything intertwines together into a single story where there are no heroes or villains, just people trying to live their lives in the City of Llyra. I cannot recommend this book enough. Read it and enjoy an amazing furry author!
