![]() | Natier, son of King Rasdill and heir to the Llyran throne, is perhaps as spoiled as someone in his position can become. The King loves him far too much to see past all of the lies that the young fox spins, and Natier uses that love to his gain whenever he can. There is more than meets the eye to this prince, however. Every night, Natier sneaks out into the city; there, he takes on the persona of Rivard, a slightly more mild-mannered fox. As Rivard, Natier is able to do all the things that would not become a prince -- he goes to brothels, helps a local gang of thieves pull off robberies, and gets drunk off his tail on mead. This lifestyle continues until a harrowing event forces Natier to flee the palace and assume the role of Rivard indefinitely as he struggles to make sense of the conspiracy that almost got him killed... Note: This book deals with homoerotic themes and descriptions of erotic acts. Plot Summary - May Contain Spoilers Style: Novel Page Count: 406 | |||||||

Comments by Creator/Publisher of The Prince of Knaves by Alflor Aalto"The Prince of Knaves" - A Review by Ryan Blackbear “The Prince of Knaves is a fantastically-written, fast paced classic adventure story interwoven with a touching, heartfelt (and sometimes explicitly described) homosexual romance. If you spent your childhood reading books like Robinson Crusoe, The Count of Monte Cristo, The Three Musketeers, Treasure Island, and so on, this book will absolutely and without doubt be a welcome addition to your collection.” Reviewed by creator alflor - April 16, 2012 Flayrah: Review 'The Prince of Knaves' by Alflor Aalto From the Review: "The Prince of Knaves is smoothly written, fast-moving, full of action and intrigue and 18th century-style naval battles. But the plot seems very superficial. Natier is introduced as such a hedonist, hating the duties of aristocracy and preferring to live incognito as a commoner, that it is unconvincing for him to work dangerously in disguise to restore his father’s government. As someone whom all the authorities are trying to kill, he is too quick to trust strangers with his real identity. His efforts to foil the thieves from within their gang, without arousing their suspicion, seem too easily successful. He works all day in the shipyard, spends all night in the thieves’ gang – when does he have the time (or the stamina) for his extended, graphic gay lovemaking? (He is tired after Chapter 10.)" Customer's Reviews for The Prince of Knaves by Alflor Aalto
For fans of anthro stories, for fans of romantic period stories, for fans of intrigue and political machinations, for fans of a ripping good read - get this book!
The Prince of Knaves is a well-written character study of the young Prince Natier of Llyra, caught between two lives - one of duty and priviledge, and the other of excitement and love. Which will he choose? Or will the choice be made for him? Will he be brought low by his baser tastes, or will his noble nature win out?
A thoroughly satisfying read for furry fans of all stripes...and spots!
I got this book at fwa. It has an unassuming cover, but the content is amazing. I agree with the other reviewers. The story is fantastic, the sex scenes are tastefully woven in, the writing is very clean and the flow is very absorbing. There were 400 pages but it didn't take me long to finish this book. If you like adventure stories and don't mind (or want) the M/M romance, this is the book for you! I could not recommend this book enough! Waiting patiently for the sequel.
Words cannot describe how much I fell in love with this book, especially its characters. This book had my emotions going in every direction without forcing these emotions. In addition to a wonderful plot there are many things that Alflor adds in the book that moved me personally because they seemed so real to me. Once I got into it, I couldn't put the book down. I'm thrilled that Alflor can be published and he is going to have a wonderful future in writing. Keep him in your radar.
It's by far my favorite anthropomorphic book and I recommend this everyone.
I picked this book up at FWA without thinking much of it. Unfortunately (or fortunately), the battery in my laptop died, and I had a whole plane flight with nothing to do. So I began reading, and the rest is history.
Alflor has many strengths as a writer, but perhaps his best is character building. The characters in this book are nothing short of real. They all have their merits and flaws. I found myself cheering for them one moment and booing them the next. That's exactly how real human beings are. Way too many books go with the knight in shining armor as their protagonist, a fact that bores me. With Rivard you never know which way things will lean. And it's those characters who drive the plot. This results in realistic situations and realistic resolutions. Things never feel forced. Too many writers out there push the characters into weird actions just to drive the plot. The narrative is very strong as well. I found myself lost in it to the point where I stopped seeing the words and started seeing the story beneath them. To me, a narrative you barely notice is the mark of a talented writer.
There *is* sex in this book, but it is very tasteful and romantic. I'm actually not gay and I enjoyed it just for the sheer plot progression it provided.
I think we have an Ursa Majors contender. I certainly know where I will put my vote.
Edited for Space Constraints
Such a perfect tale of adventure, action, and drama. With each of the chapters that you read, you will find yourself wanting to know what is gonna happen next and know the fate of all of the characters. When not dealing with the aggressive parts of the story you see the softer and more fragile side of Natier and his struggles with not only what happened to his father, but as well as deal with falling in love with someone.
I am so thankful that I not only pre-ordered this book, but also have been a fan of the brilliant author for a while.
