Can't fight. Can't hide. Can't even take a heartbeat or two to catch your breath. All you can do is run.
Owen Zelazny never expected, living in Maranatha City, to live long enough to make this decision. Give up a life of hunting, find a good guy and settle down to a life of domestic debauchery. Pretty sweet deal. But a city like Maranatha never lets you go so easily. Even three years after the disaster that nearly cost him his life, the city still has its vicious fangs sunk in the jugular of his destiny, and when Owen finds himself chased by the sadistic and lethally resourceful Tony Caulfield for reasons he can only barely understand, he knows only one thing to do. With Ruy, his bewildered Latin flame in tow, Owen seeks out Malloy - a man he turned his back on three years earlier, a man who can solve problems and keep them alive...but always at too high a cost. With the city's deamons coming back to haunt them, Owen and Malloy find that old hanits die hard, and even with a bloodthirsty villain chasing them from London, to Paris, to Shanghai and beyond... There is always time for a quickie. | |||||||

Customer's Reviews for Heathen City Volume 1
I have been dying to read this graphic novel for a long time, and I have to say, it was worth the wait! I loved the first volume. The story is phenomenally intricate, with an amazing background behind it, and it's all tightly woven together, with some of the most intelligent writing I've ever seen. There's a fantastic narrative intelligently driving an even more fantastic story here, and I quickly became attached to a couple of the characters. Everything is consistent, and whether or not you really like the main protagonists, it's hard not to root for them. The characters themselves all have very distinctive, consistent personalities, and again, the writing of these characters just really amazes me. Overall, this is one of the best stories I've personally ever read. Just reading it and getting a feel for it all made me vastly curious about the universe these characters live in, and I'd personally love to see just how far this universe expands, by reading all the other related material, but Heathen City Volume 1: Always on the Run, is definitely a must own, for any person wanting to check out graphic novels or comics involving anthropomorphic characters, or even people who just want to read an amazing story, with some fantastic writing.
This graphic novel wastes no time in dragging the reader directly into the story. The amazing artwork styles and the absolutely splendid dialog keeps you on the edge of your seat with wonder and suspense.
The character dialogue is very well constructed and the story moves with a very consistent flow and very easy to follow. The intimate intercourse (or in some cases not so intimate) scenes throughout the story will provide a very good rising peak of interest for the reader, and the masterful artwork makes it that much more memorable.
This comic is quite nice, and the fact that it is full color and printed in very high quality adds to the face value of the comic for the reader greatly, and I believe you definitely get your bang for your buck
Great Purchase, and cant wait to read more
